Born over a quarter century ago in the Conservatoire de Lyon and unashamedly French in voice, the Debussy Quartet embodies the curiosity evident throughout the work of its namesake. Whether touring, recording, or fashioning its own Les Cordes en Ballade summer festival academy in the South of France, the quartet only continues to hone its distinctive connection with chamber audiences worldwide.

Lean in to the ensemble’s artistry with the Lady Macbeth Elegy and greet the transience of sunset with the shortest of the deeply personal and emotional Shostakovich quartets. Yield a little to the unsettling tones of Beethoven’s Serioso quartet, then lose yourself completely in utterly authentic Ravel, an achingly classical work beloved by the composer himself.

PROGRAM
